Blue Skies and Yellow Fields
Welcome to Sweden, welcome to Just Arrived.

We at Just Arrived are deeply saddened by the current situation in Ukraine and are welcoming everyone who has come to Sweden to seek protection from the ongoing war. We are here to help you who have recently come to Sweden and are looking for a way to support yourself.

Residence permits under the EU’s Temporary Protection Directive*
EU Member States have decided to activate the Temporary Protection Directive. This means that anyone who comes to Sweden from Ukraine can get immediate protection and a temporary residence permit.

The permit gives you the opportunity to get help with finding housing, the right to work, the right to seek basic care, the right to schooling for children, and certain financial support in Sweden. The directive applies to Ukrainian citizens and people with resident permits as refugees or with subsidiary protection status in Ukraine, and family members of the two of them.To be covered by the directive, you must have left the country after 24 February 2022. Persons who have committed certain criminal acts (e.g., war crimes) or who pose a threat to Sweden’s security cannot get a residence permit under the Temporary Protection Directive.

To apply, you will need to register and present a biometric national passport or other Ukrainian identity documents at one of the offices of the Swedish Migration Agency. You will also have your fingerprints taken and be photographed as part of the registration process.

New e-service for those who have fled the war in Ukraine. Persons who have fled the war in Ukraine can now apply online for protection under the Temporary Protection Directive

Asylum applications*
Ukrainian citizens continue to have the opportunity to apply for asylum in Sweden according to the regular asylum process. A decision on asylum can never be taken immediately; each application needs to be examined individually. A residence permit for a person who is granted asylum has a time limit of either thirteen months or 3 years. You can tell the border police that you wish to apply for asylum or visit one of the offices of the Swedish Migration Agency and apply for asylum there.
